🇯🇲🇬🇧 SVE MUSIC TAKE: UK DANCEHALL IS GETTING LOUDER! 🇬🇧🇯🇲
On Wednesday 9 September 2026, dancehall history comes to London’s O2 arena as Vybz Kartel and Mavado prepare to share the stage once again.
The O2 has officially confirmed the event as a UK exclusive, with doors scheduled for 6:30pm.
And this isn’t just another dancehall concert.
The names Gaza and Gully carry enormous weight in dancehall history.
Back in 2006, Vybz Kartel and Mavado stood at the centre of one of the most talked-about lyrical rivalries in modern Jamaican dancehall. Their confrontation at Jamaica’s Sting festival became part of dancehall folklore.
Nearly two decades later, the story has taken an extraordinary turn.
Rather than another chapter of confrontation, London is set to witness the two artists coming together for a celebration of their musical legacies — and of dancehall culture itself. The O2 describes the performance as the first time in 18 years that Kartel and Mavado are preparing to share the stage again.
🇯🇲➡️🇬🇧 FROM JAMAICA TO LONDON
For UK dancehall fans, this moment represents something much bigger.
The British dancehall scene has developed through decades of Jamaican influence, UK sound-system culture, Caribbean communities and home-grown artists.
Notting Hill Carnival remains one of the clearest examples of that history.
And while the Carnival sound systems continue to represent the foundation, a younger generation is pushing the culture forward — bringing new sounds, new energy and new voices to UK audiences.
That includes artists such as Malie Donn, whose generation represents the continuing evolution of Jamaican dancehall.
At the same time, established stars are recognising the importance of the UK market.
And when two of dancehall’s most recognisable names — Vybz Kartel and Mavado — walk onto the same London stage, the significance cannot be ignored.
🔥 SEPTEMBER COULD BE HUGE FOR UK DANCEHALL
The timing couldn’t be more interesting.
Notting Hill Carnival has just delivered its 60th-anniversary celebration.
Now, just days later, the spotlight moves from the streets of West London to The O2 in Greenwich.
That makes September 9 a date that dancehall fans across Britain will be watching closely.
Will we see the energy of Gaza?
Will we see the Gully side?
Will we see the two catalogues collide?
Or will this be something completely different — a celebration of two artists who helped shape an era of dancehall?
Whatever happens, one thing is certain:
London is ready.
