Background: Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he developed an interest in songwriting while attending Spanish Town Secondary School in St. Catherine.
Stage Name: Originally known as “Baby U” (after his father “Big U”), he was renamed “Thriller U” by fans who claimed his singing “thrilled them”.
Rise to Fame: He began his career in the late 1980s, recording for top producers such as King Tubby, King Jammy, and Donovan Germain. In 1989, he was honored as Best New Singer of the Year at the Jammy Annual Awards.
