Remembering Tony “Terror” Douglas – A British Reggae Pioneer

One of the most meaningful aspects of SVE Music’s recording of “Really Together” is the involvement of the late Tony “Terror” Douglas, a respected British-Jamaican roots reggae singer, songwriter, harmony vocalist and sound system selector.

Best known for his association with the celebrated British reggae vocal group The Blackstones, Tony Douglas was part of the generation of musicians who helped establish and sustain roots reggae within the United Kingdom.

His musical journey reflected the rich connection between Jamaican reggae traditions and Britain’s thriving sound system culture. Through his work as a vocalist, performer and selector, Tony contributed to a musical movement that influenced generations of reggae enthusiasts.

Tony “Terror” Douglas sadly passed away in May 2024, leaving behind a legacy of recordings, performances and contributions to British roots reggae.

His collaboration with Harmonie Deja on “Really Together”, produced by Konroy “Starr Vybz” Stephens, carries additional significance today.

Originally made famous by legendary Jamaican duo Bob Andy and Marcia Griffiths, the song represents the enduring beauty of classic reggae duets.

SVE Music’s interpretation connects that Jamaican musical heritage with the contributions of a respected figure in British reggae.

For SVE Music, this recording is not simply another release from the catalogue. It is also an opportunity to celebrate Tony Douglas’s voice, musical journey and contribution to the reggae community.

Rest in musical peace, Tony “Terror” Douglas.

Your contribution to British reggae will not be forgotten. 🕊️
